Course Overview
Construction managers should be able to develop systems and procedures for the efficient management of construction equipment. Selection and use of appropriate equipment will be discussed with consideration of soil conditions, nature of construction, limitations of equipment and comparison of costs. Consideration of what is the most advantageous acquisition method will be discussed along with the need for equipment operator training.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify mobile equipment types and models, popular attachments, and machine guidance technology.
- Estimate basic excavation costs, the selection of the correct machine, model size, and attachments.
- Learn the applications of the most popular construction cranes, including mobile and stationary building cranes.
- Understand the use and types of piles and pile driving equipment.
- Understand aggregate sourcing, gradation, and production. Learn the methods of concrete and asphalt production and placing.
- Understand: reactionary, preventive, and predictive maintenance strategies and the impact on cost, machine life, and availability.
