Course Overview
This course provides the student with information on concepts of ambulatory ECG that is essential to the practicing cardiology technologist. Ambulatory ECG topics covered include: principles of operation of scanners/recorders, indications/diary/findings, conduction disturbances, ischemia drugs and miscellaneous, implantable devices and reporting. Students will be evaluated on application of knowledge through case studies.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Explain the principles and operation of AECG recorders (analog, digital, intermittent), scanning equipment and event monitors.
- Explain the principles of signal average ECG and Heart Rate Variability (HRV).
- Identify correct ambulatory monitor settings and electrode placement.
- Correlate and report patient diary entries related to symptoms and ambulatory ECG findings
- Identify ambulatory ECG abnormalities in relation to ischemia and cardiac drugs.
- Produce accurate AECG report formation through various case studies.
- Accurately review and analyze selected case studies by removing artifact, reviewing data, documenting appropriate strips for abnormalities in HR, ST, QT, HRV, rhythm, conduction and cardiac device function.
