Course Overview
This course is designed to provide the skills to set up and operate CNC Turning Centres. The course introduces basic CNC turning operations and a basic understanding of CNC programming and its applications. Students will manufacture simple parts using CNC turning centres and will gain the experience of performing quality control inspections before, during, and after CNC operations.
Prerequisite(s)
- MACH 0105 Lathe Operator or successful completion of Machinist Foundation program or 1 year machining lathe experience.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Interpret part programs.
- Identify location, functions, and operation of machine control.
- Establish work coordinate systems.
- Identify, select and inspect tooling and tool holders.
- Set up tooling and offsets.
- Set up work-holding and accesories.
- Transfer programs to and from the machine control.
- Adjust tooling and offset to meet drawings specifications.
- Produce components to specifications.
- Optimize programs.
- Troubleshoot CNC problems.

Please include your BCIT ID number (if you have one). This course will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Tuesday and Thursday classes will occur from 1900-2200, and Saturday classes will occur from 0800-1430. Information about course materials will be provided on the first day of class.
