Course details
The purpose of this non-credit asynchronous course is to familiarize students with television and video production fundamentals, assess basic technical proficiency and give students a foundation for further study in the television and video production field. Successful completion of either this course or the BCST 1160 - Television Broadcasting and Video Introduction course fulfills the entrance requirement for Admission to the full-time Television & Video Production diploma program.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Explain the basics of photographic composition using techniques such as (lines of force, patterns and texture, rule of thirds, action axis, use of colour, etc.).
- Take still photos on a cell phone, DSLR, or disposable camera which utilize the basics of photographic composition and submit them electronically on D2L (Learning Hub) utilizing a specified naming convention.
- Construct a short visual story with a beginning, middle, and end using sequences of still photographs illustrating described composition techniques.
