Course details
The International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers provides standards regarding emergency, occupational safety, and survival. The course provides these standards to meet minimum requirements for familiarization, basic safety, firefighting, and survival in emergency situations.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe types of potential hazards and emergencies associated on board a vessel.
- Explain effective human relationships on board vessels.
- List the requirements for different types of lifesaving equipment on board a vessel.
- State factors relating to survival and actions to be taken for survival and rescue.
- Recognize and explain operation of signalling devices and pyrotechnics.
- Describe the use of radio communications equipment.
- State types of rescue.
- Describe use of rescue equipments.
- Explain shipboard duties in relation to the prevention of pollution from the ship.
- Explain the organization of emergency parties for shipboard fire fighting.
