MAKE+ supports the applied research goals of the BCIT community by utilizing our connections with industry to facilitate and develop applied research opportunities for faculty. We also provide access to prototype development knowledge, facilities and expertise in order to assist faculty to continue professional development activities and maintain BCIT’s position as a leader in high technology education.
Product development leadership
MAKE+ provides support for student projects and programs. Faculty remain in control of the project and access the support as needed. Several times a year MAKE+ researchers meet with students from various programs providing expert guidance and information on human factors, developing requirements, prototype building and evaluation. MAKE+ is always open to new ways of working with students to help make their BCIT education a richer experience.
Research opportunities
MAKE+ often has opportunities for BCIT faculty and students to participate in various ways on industry applied research projects.

Quantum Sensor Electronics
Matt Greig, MAKE+ Research Associate, was instrumental in the development of the electronics associated with a self-calibrating quantum sensor for vacuum measurement based on single atoms developed by former BCIT researcher and physics instructor Dr. James Booth. Matt, a BCIT electronics diploma grad, is now working on his PhD at SFU.
