The Teck Copper Innovation Hub provides specialized 3D printing systems, professional design and engineering services, and training to meet industry needs across multiple manufacturing sectors, including advanced composites, metals, foods and bio-manufacturing. The 3D printers will be capable of printing metals, composites, thermoplastics and food. The new facility will also advance the use of antimicrobial copper in medical devices.
The goal of the Teck Copper Innovation Hub is to increase the knowledge base and prototyping capabilities of students, faculty and industry partners to help industry commercialize innovative new additive manufacturing products. Additionally, the Hub will be a centre for research and development in new methods of additive manufacturing including combined metal and composite materials.
