Dr. Jennie Moore, Director of BCIT Institute Sustainability and the Centre for Ecocities, is lead author of the UN-Habitat’s SDG Cities Canada Report 2024.

This is the first national report tracking the progress of Canadian cities in implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). National statistics are examined through an analytical framework using city specific indicators of UN-Habitat’s Global Urban Monitoring Framework (UMF). These indicators are further refined and adapted to the challenges facing Canadian cities, with progress presented in regional summaries.

The report also presents case studies highlighting actions cities and networks across Canada are taking on a broad range of sustainable development goals. The Centre for Ecocities Municipal Peer Network is included as a best practice in the Network Profiles section and the District of Saanich One Planet Living initiative is highlighted in City Profiles section.

The report can be accessed from UN-Habitat website.
