About the program
This microcredential will introduce participants to the following concepts:
- Sequence of operation of a heat pump system both mechanically and electrically
- More complicated electrical wiring diagrams and how to interpret them
- How to determine electrical and mechanical problems
- How to detect and find refrigerant leaks and repair
Participants will also work on various systems used in the residential field.

Entrance requirements
Students must hold the following certifications to take part in this microcredential:
- Red Seal: HVAC or
Level One/Foundations program in HVAC and Refrigeration from BCIT or another recognized institute in Canada - Environment Canada ODS Certificate
Recommended for success
Experience working as a certified tradesperson is recommended for success.

Formal application to the microcredential is not required. Upon successful completion of the courses, email the program contact with your full name, student number, and mailing address to be issued a microcredential.
