Course Overview
In this course, students will dive into the world of renewable energy sources and systems for heat and electricity and carbon capture. Students will learn how to evaluate technologies based on cost factors, technology readiness, site specific conditions and other risk factors. Students will also learn to move from project concepts to implementation and discover funding sources, develop pre-feasibility and feasibility studies and much more.

Learning Outcomes
In this course, students will dive into the world of renewable energy sources and systems for heat and electricity and carbon capture. Students will learn how to evaluate technologies based on cost factors, technology readiness, site specific conditions and other risk factors. Students will also learn to move from project concepts to implementation and discover funding sources, develop pre-feasibility and feasibility studies and much more.
- Identify sources of renewable energy for heat and electricity and how they fit into the community energy and emissions planning process.
- Evaluate systems and technologies on Initial Cost, Total Cost of Ownership, ROI, Operation and Maintenance (parts, skills), risk, etc.
- Evaluate systems for carbon capture and related business models for carbon credits.
- Explain factors affecting project viability, outline issues that may arise during project planning and implementation and identify project planning and construction funding sources.
