Overview
About the program
The Principles of Regenerative Building microcredential will train professionals to deliver low-impact buildings needed to achieve net zero energy and carbon targets. Many of the strategies that enhance a building’s resilience — such as independence from energy grids and the ability to withstand climate-influenced events — are also low-carbon strategies, as they negate the need for carbon-emitting energy and new materials.
The microcredential will consist of the following three new courses:
- XRGN 4515 – Building Certifications and Rating Systems is an exploration certifications and rating systems in response to the growing need to measure the success of building designs in combating climate change and addressing social issues.
- XRGN 4525 – Introduction to Regenerative Building goes beyond sustainability by actively restoring and revitalizing ecosystems and communities.
- XRGN 4535 – Resilience and Equity in the Built Environment provides a strong focus on the interconnectedness of social, environmental, and cultural factors. This course also explores a range of topics essential for designing spaces that address the challenges of our rapidly changing world.
