Course Overview
An investigation of the lived experience of international students examines the relationship between cultural transitions, adjustments to daily life and stress during the acculturation process. Best practices for facilitating strategies that foster healthy student adaptation and inclusion in different cultures will be explored through discussion and assignments. This introductory course will develop practitioner's competencies to support international student adaptation.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe the myths and realities associated with the lived experience of international students.
- Recognize the drivers behind acculturative stress for international students.
- Articulate the role(s) and responsibilities of an international education practitioner in facilitating international student adaptation.
- Identify strategies at the individual level or institutional level that foster international student adaptation and inclusion.
- Explain the dimensions of inclusion and what makes an inclusive learning space.
