SGIF (Small Group Instructional Feedback) is a great way to find out directly from your students what in your course is working and what could be improved. Because a SGIF happens during your course, it gives you a chance to nip any problems in the bud. Contact your School Liaison to set one up.

SGIF (Small Group Instructional Feedback) is a simple, powerful way to improve instruction. First a trained facilitator meets with you to set objectives for the SGIF process in a particular class. Then, using a structured group process, the facilitator visits the class (without you) for about 30–45 minutes. The visit usually takes place after at least four weeks of instruction and before the mid-term point of the course. Afterward, the facilitator meets with you to debrief and plan.
When you, the instructor, meet with the facilitator you will discuss:
During the classroom session, the facilitator does two things:
A. Asks groups of four to six students three questions:
B. Helps the class synthesize the feedback.
Yes. Results are treated as confidential and ALL written materials become property of the instructor. No records are kept that a SGIF was held. Facilitators do not discuss SGIF results with anyone other than the instructor requesting it.
Note that SGIF results are not associated with the FSA instructor performance development system.
