Course Overview
This course introduces students to Windows Servers and includes configuration and management of components relating to Installation, Storage systems, Networking including DHCP and DNS, HyperV, Domain Controllers, Active Directory, Permissions, Securing Servers, and other items supporting a large enterprise environment.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Install and configure servers and domain controllers.
- Configure Windows server licensing and activation.
- Manage Windows servers remotely.
- Configure Windows clients to securely connect to Windows servers.
- Configure hard drives and storage.
- Configure SMB shares in Windows server.
- Configure basic and advanced NTFS and share permissions.
- Install and configure HyperV.
- Configure and manage HyperV Storage and networking.
- Install and configure images (guests) using HyperV.
- Install and configure DHCP, DNS, and implement an IP Addressing strategy.
- Configure Virtual Private Networking and Remote Access.
- Install and configure forests, domains, and child domains.
- Create, manage, and maintain Active Directory.
- Create and manage Active Directory users, computers, groups, organizational units (OUs), and many other Active Directory objects.
- Configure global catalog servers and operations masters.
- Configure service authentication and account policies.
- Create and configure password policies, account lockout policies, and Kerberos authentication policies.
- Create and configure various trust relationships in enterprise environments.
- Monitor, manage and recover Widows Servers and AD DS.
- Configure and manage Active Directory in a complex enterprise environment using Active Directory sites and services.
- Configure and manage Active Directory replication.
- Use PowerShell to install, configure, and manage many of the components learned in this course.

- No class on Sat Sept 28th (Truth and Reconciliation Weekend), Sat Oct 12th (Thanksgiving Weekend) and Sat Nov 9th (Remembrance Day Weekend). Due to the condensed format of this course, late registration is not permitted. It is strongly recommended that students participate in every class. CITX 2200 is part of the Network Administrator Technician Associate Certificate program but it can also be taken as a stand-alone course. Note: BCIT reserves the right to cancel courses. - No class on Monday, September 30th (National Day for Truth & Reconciliation), Monday, October 14th (Thanksgiving Day), and Monday, November 11th (Remembrance Day). This course will be offered 50% in person - on campus and 50% synchronously online. The instructor will provide details in the course outline. Students will be required to attend at the BCIT Burnaby Campus in building SE01 Room 208 on the first day of class. The instructor will then present students with the full schedule which will show both in-person and online lecture dates. Before the course begins, please visit learn.bcit.ca, select CITX 2200, and check the News Items on the home page of the course for information from your instructor. Note: the purchase of online materials is required for this course. Your instructor will walk you through purchasing those items on the first day of class.
