Course Overview
This course is designed to provide the skills to set up and operate CNC Machining Centres. The course introduces basic CNC milling operations and a basic understanding of CNC programming and its applications. Students will manufacture simple parts using CNC machining centres and will gain the experience of performing quality control inspections before, during, and after CNC operations.
Prerequisite(s)
- MACH 0110 Milling Machine Operator or successful completion of Machinist Foundation program or 1 year machining mill experience.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Interpret part programs.
- Identify location, functions, and operation of machine control.
- Establish work coordinate systems.
- Select and inspect tooling and tool holders.
- Set up tooling and offsets.
- Install and align work-holding devices and fixtures.
- Transfer programs to and from the machine control.
- Adjust tooling and offset to meet drawings specifications.
- Produce components to specifications.
- Optimize programs.
- Troubleshoot CNC problems.
