Course Overview
Familiarizes the technical writer with formats and conventions of documents used in the construction industry. Also includes a review of basic English grammar and sentence structure as well as an introduction to public speaking. Emphasis is placed on writing with clarity, directness, and brevity. 3.0 credits 12 weeks.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Create documents that follow the conventions of correct grammar, spelling, mechanics and punctuation.
- Generate, draft, and revise a memorandum, short business letter, and facsimile following correct business conventions with respect to format, structure, style and content.
- Make notes at job-site or office meetings, and then draft and revise an accurate record of such meetings following correct business conventions with respect to format, structure, style and content.
- Prepare an agenda for a job-site or office meeting following correct business conventions with respect to format, structure, style, and content.
- Communicate verbally with increased clarity and confidence.
