Course Overview
In this course, students are introduced to the basics of frontend web development. Students learn to use modern HTML and CSS to create modern web pages. This course is the foundation for subsequent web development courses.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Create web pages using a broad variety of HTML elements.
- Assess and debug syntactic correctness of HTML and CSS.
- Use HTML elements according to semantic principles when appropriate.
- Read and write a broad range of CSS selectors including name, class, id, attribute, pseudo-class and pseudo- attribute selectors, as well as combinators, and multi-selector rulesets.
- Utilize CSS conflict resolution and fallback, including specificity, cascade, and inheritance.
- Use HTML inputs and forms to add interactivity to web pages.
- Analyze errors and messages in a current web browser debugging tool such as Firefox or Chrome.
- Utilize various CSS techniques to develop web pages that display well at all screen sizes.
- Construct layouts of elements using a variety of techniques, including normal flow, floats, non-static positioning, and modern flow options such as flexbox. Use template-style technologies to .dynamically create and edit DOM nodes.
