Course details
Every company that leverages a website, blog, video channel, podcast, email newsletter, and/or social media needs effective and efficient content planning. By learning a multi-step, iterative, content planning process, students build new digital skills that can be applied in real world contexts. Content planning saves time, creates more professional content, enhances brand consistency, and assists in building relationships with customers. The focus of this course will be to provide the student with content planning strategies and content creation techniques to fuel the digital marketing efforts of any organization.

Please note that the lecture component for this course is asynchronous; you are not required to meet each week at a specific time, however, there will be specific timelines for assignments and exams. It is important you have a stable and consistent internet connection to access course content. Course content, type and quality of assignments, and general standards for this online course are the same as classroom courses. To be successful in this online course, plan to spend 7-10 hours per week on your studies, or more for a condensed course, starting Week 1.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Explain the advantages of formal content creation for a company, non-profit, or business.
- Distinguish between different content platforms; comparing and contrasting the benefits and drawbacks of each option.
- Assemble and organize potential content topics supported by formal brainstorming and research techniques.
- Formulate realistic timeline for content production and develop a corresponding workflow on an editorial calendar.
- Gain confidence in ability to create content in a variety of formats – text, images, audio, and/or video.
- Create a strategy, and corresponding tactics, to engage with digital audiences.
- Learn to appraise audience responses and author appropriate.
- Reflect on the iterative process of content planning and use experience-based knowledge to refine future content.
