Course Overview
Students will undertake a major independent project in a selected area of GIS technology, in consultation with industry/academic sponsors and faculty advisors. You will solve GIS technical problems, demonstrate thorough knowledge of your project topic, and present your GIS project results by writing a technical report and making an oral presentation to GIS industry standards.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student should be able to:
- Apply independent problem solving skills.
- Acquire new technical skills while solving GIS technical problems.
- Formulate a methodical approach to finding new information by using technical documentation, Internet resources, and peer consulting.
- Apply resources, data and personal organization techniques to manage a project.
- Use project logs, project milestones and project management software so you can stay on schedule and adapt to unexpected changes.
- Complete your proposed project and produce the stated deliverables for the project sponsor.
