The Centre’s primary areas of focus include advancing applied research and tools aligned with the International Ecocity Standards, including the ecoCity Footprint Tool (Tool) and associated Lighter Footprint App. Other foci include developing the Tool and integrating with tools offered by Ecocity Builders; measurement through ecofootprint analysis and life cycle assessments and technology innovation for the built environment.
The Ecocity Peer Network was launched as a means to test out the ecoCity Footprint Tool and Lighter Footprint App. The Centre, under the lead of Dr. Jennie Moore, has been contributing years of work to develop these tools:
