The BCIT Foundation is proud to share the significant progress it is making on the new, state-of-the-art Health Sciences Centre, slated for completion in fall 2021. As of September 2020, the INSPIRE Campaign has raised $8.89 million in support of the Health Sciences Centre.

“We are closing in on reaching the $11.7 million fundraising goal for the Centre,” said Jackie Jacob, Executive Director, BCIT Foundation. “Since breaking ground in December 2019, the Centre has made tangible progress that people can see when they pass by the Burnaby campus. It is a testament to the dedication of our philanthropic community—despite the challenges of COVID-19. We are thankful for the leadership of our INSPIRE Campaign Cabinet and Patrons and the incredible support of the BCIT community.”

At 106,660 square feet, the $78.3 million Centre will allow BCIT to advance teaching and learning technologies and significantly increase training capacity for key in-demand healthcare professionals. Set to be the most sustainable building on the Burnaby campus, the four-storey building will be a net-zero carbon emission space, integrating patient-care simulation, allied heath and laboratory science, while staying true to the applied learning for which BCIT is known.

The Health Sciences Centre is part of the $125 million first phase of a long-term infrastructure renewal plan—one of the INSPIRE Campaign’s three key pillars—for the Burnaby campus, including $66.6 million in funding from the province.

Since the INSPIRE Campaign launched in 2014, $57.4 million has been raised towards its three pillars of infrastructure renewal, access and inclusion, and teaching and learning innovation.
