PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Medical Radiography program offers an extensive and cutting-edge curriculum in X-ray imaging, providing students with a diverse skill set and preparing them for a dynamic and fulfilling career. Encompassing areas such as Fluoroscopy, OR imaging, emergency/trauma situations, interventional procedures, mammography and Computed Tomography (CT), the program ensures graduates are well-equipped to meet the unique needs of every patient they encounter. CLINICAL REQUIREMENTS

COMPTRACKER

The Medical Radiography Program employs the Comptracker platform to facilitate student support during clinical practicums. The platform hosts specific clinical evaluation forms essential for student assessment, including:

  • Floor Critique
  • Verbal Critique
  • Case Review
  • Competency
  • Formative Evaluation
  • Midterm Evaluation
  • Summative Evaluation

It is crucial to be aware that these forms may undergo frequent updates. For the most recent versions or exemplars, students are encouraged to visit the CompTracker platform or reach out to the clinical coordinator(s).

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

In the realm of medical radiography, a preceptor is a seasoned and highly skilled professional within the field who takes on the role of mentor and guide. Specifically tailored to the context of medical radiography education, a preceptor closely collaborates with students or individuals in the early stages of their training in the field. This involves hands-on, practical instruction, comprehensive supervision, and unwavering support, fostering the application of theoretical knowledge to authentic, real-world scenarios within the medical radiography setting.

The preceptor’s responsibilities extend to playing a pivotal role in the clinical facet of education. Beyond imparting technical skills, they offer crucial insights and guidance on patient care protocols and uphold the highest standards of professional conduct. In essence, the primary objective of a preceptor in medical radiography is to actively facilitate the development of essential competencies, ultimately ensuring the seamless transition of learners into adept, self-assured practitioners in the specialized field of medical radiography.
