January, April and September – SoHS Student Orientations – “Welcome to the SoHS Team”
Goals include: building a sense of the interprofessional community among the incoming classes from multiple programs, connecting new students, faculty and staff and streamlining/standardizing orientation. Keynote speaker: Jim Ryan (Patient Partner).

October 28–November 1 – Canada Patient Safety Week
The School of Health Sciences hosted its semi-annual patient safety workshops for students and faculty. Silent epidemic: 28,000 Canadians die from preventable harm when receiving care, each year.

Collaborative initiative between BCIT and the Burnaby School District that transitions interested high school students to post secondary.

Faculty, staff and students from across the school collaborated on “Journeys” to provide the public and potential students the ability to walk through the many health professions a single patient might encounter in the health care system

January – Interprofessional /International Experiences
Two Prosthetics and Orthotics students, along with their instructor Yvonne Jeffrey, travelled to India for a clinical placement.
