BCIT is committed to ensuring our systems run smoothly and securely. Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility that requires proactive measures from each member of our community. We know that cyber threats are constantly evolving, and it is crucial we stay informed and up-to-date with cybersecurity practices.
BCIT has launched the “Don’t Get Hooked” campaign for Cyber Security Awareness Month in October. The campaign focuses on phishing and social engineering – two critical threats to personal and professional data.
To kick off the campaign, BCIT is hosting a Phishing and Social Engineering Info Session for BCIT employees on October 1 from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. in SE2-213, Town Square C on the Burnaby Campus. Join IT Services for breakfast refreshments and learn about phishing tactics, social engineering techniques, and how to protect yourself from cyber-attacks.
This year’s campaign also offers an exciting opportunity for BCIT employees to win an Apple Watch SE through a raffle, while they learn how to stay cyber aware. Employees must complete the following to enter:
- Pass the online quiz: Score 80% or higher on the Cyber Awareness Quiz, based on Cyber Awareness Topics.
- Complete the BCIT online Cyber Awareness course: Available on the Learning Hub.
- Report at least one phishing email during our simulated phishing exercises. Read this Knowledge Base article for instructions on how to report a phish.
BONUS: Attend the information session on October 1 and BCIT will double their entry to increase their chances of winning!
