Income Tax

As an international student studying in Canada, you may have to file a Canadian Income Tax Return. Visit Taxes for International students studying in Canada on the CRA website to learn more about how income taxes work in Canada and if you need to file a tax return.

Normally, income tax returns must be filed on or before April 30 for the previous year. To learn more, please visit Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

Student volunteers run the BCIT Accounting Association tax clinic each spring. If you are eligible you may get free support with filing your income taxes. You may also find other free tax clinics nearby or online.

Your T2202 official tax receipt will be available in your myBCIT account from the last day in February. You can use this for tax purposes. You may also have other tax slips, such as a T4 from your employer.
