Important notice for ISEP students

International Student Entry Program (ISEP) students are charged a non-refundable $180 International Health Insurance Fee as part of their first term tuition.

This fee covers 90 days of Guard.me private medical insurance coverage. Once you have confirmed your travel plans with ISC Staff, your Guard.me card and policy details will be emailed to your my.bcit.ca email address.

If you are a newly admitted ISEP student, then you MUST notify us so that we can plan your temporary private medical insurance coverage through Guard.me.

Please send an email to isep.support@bcit.ca with the following information:

  1. Your name
  2. Your BCIT student number
  3. Your planned date of departure to Canada and/or a copy of your flight itinerary

It is important for international students to have valid medical insurance coverage when they travel to Canada.  International students should also make sure to review BCIT’s Travel to Canada Guide.

For newly admitted ISEP students already in Canada:

We highly recommend that you arrange for additional temporary private medical insurance to cover you for any time that you will spend in Canada before starting ISEP.

If you already have BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) or medical insurance coverage from a private insurance provider, you may be able to opt out of Guard.me insurance coverage. See Opt Out for more information.
