A critical hub for healthcare education
The Health Sciences Centre was completed in the summer of 2022. This integrated and comprehensive centre provides a state-of-the-art home for progressive clinical education through sophisticated simulation, modern classroom technology, and inter-professional practice. Its design helps break down traditional learning silos to foster interdisciplinary learning.
Indigenous Glazing Films
Are installed on 62 windows on the Southwest corner of HSC building. These overlook the building’s atrium so students and staff are able to appreciate the design.
Social stairs
The social stairs run from the atrium to the fourth floor of the building, connecting the building and providing social spaces to enjoy.
Teck Copper Cafe
The Teck Copper Cafe in the building’s atrium offers healthy food and drinks.
Rooftop garden
Showcases native BC plants and highlights plant species that play an important role in indigenous cultures, for example as medicinal plants.

WELL Certification
WELL is the leading tool for advancing building design that prioritizes the health and well-being of building occupants. BCIT has been working to towards WELL Gold Certification since the early planning of the new Health Sciences Centre. WELL is based on 10 design considerations from air quality, to light.
